VS HAMBLE 3S 25TH JANUARY 2020

A home match for the ladies 2s today brought bottom of the table Hamble 3s to Ashdown.

I pretty much had Dick of the Day wrapped up when I arrived for the match and relayed the story of my missing skort. It was eventually found in my hockey bag where it had been laying dirty from last week 🤢.

The match was mostly played in Hamble’s half with the ball rarely coming over the half way line. Hamble made it tricky at times for us to break them down as there was often a crowd in their D.

First 2 Poole goals were scored by Eva because of her great positioning. A third by Ruby made it 3-0 to us at half time.
Second half, we scored some more goals. Ruby scored again, Kirsty scored 2, Ruth got 1 and Eva scored her third.
Emily our goalie didn’t touch the ball at all today. She did occasionally change which post she was leaning against.
Overall, probably wasn’t the prettiest game of hockey we’ve ever played but hey, we did win 8-0.
MOM - Eva for some great positioning and a hat trick.
DOD - me for the stinky skort.

VS ALDERSHOT AND FARNHAM 5S 18TH JANUARY 2020

Match Report written by Ruth W

The ladies 2s embarked on the journey to Surrey to play a midnight game against Aldershot & Farnham with Dance Monkey as the theme tune for the day. Remembering the low scoring home match at the beginning of the season we were looking forward to an evenly matched game for once. After a small gum shield drama from Eloise the match was underway and before long Heather found the backboard, positioned perfectly to take the rebound from Kirsty's shot on goal. Second goal came from a silky reverse stick sweep from Loe. Solid defensive performance from the Sarahs, Eloise (with gumshield now) and Harmony plus Emily making great saves kept the scoreline at 2-0. Just before halftime a short corner was conceded and converted by their resident golfer with her 9 iron - lucky we all kept our teeth!

We went into the second half with determination and positivity and before long Abi scored following some great team work with Tamrynn running down the line. With Kirsty linking the midfield and forwards we continued to dominate but they caught us off guard and another goal came from them. This was shortly followed by a successful short corner with Ruth slotting in Kirsty's deflected strike. A save on the line from Heather kept their goal tally at 2. Despite strong protest from Badley a short corner was awarded but remained out of the goal. Another successful short corner, with Abi securing the win and making the final score 2-5.

Special mention to Ellie for a fab debut performance! Well played ladies, superb team play and thoroughly enjoyable expedition!

As you can see from the pie chart we mostly felt like a motivated Chuck Norris!💪

MOM Eloise (votes also for Tamrynn, Abi & Badley)

DOD Badley for excellent protest and foot accusation denial - I'll keep your trophy safe until next week but here's a photo so you're not missing out on the eyes...!

VS PORTSMOUTH 5S 14TH DECEMBER 2019

Match Report written by Jo Russel

Ladies 2 were away to Portsmouth 5. Debs and TJ made it just in time after racing across the county, giving us a full XI. Hopes were high when Portsmouth looked on in amazement at our warmup run and commented on how young we were (that might not have been aimed at me, but I'm taking it). And so it came to pass.... first goal scored within minutes, second one a few more minutes, and then the third, and then it was half time and we were 7-0 up. Second half was much the same but with more goals. The real concerns were how to keep Emily warm in goal, how to get everyone on the score sheet, and how to stop AJ's 'inspirational' coaching from the sideline. There was a first goal for Eloise, four for Abi, three each for Kirsty and Stacy, two for Debs, and one for me, Ruth and Harmony. Final score 16-0. Sarah Tapp got MOM for some sterling work, and Portsmouth's no 90 should have got DOD for pushing, punching (yes, literally) and general unpleasantness, but evidently it was me, for not being Abi.
