vs US Portsmouth 30th September 2017

Today saw us take on a very strong, physical and technical US Portsmouth side who always prove to be tough opposition.
Edward made his debut for the Dolphins today, having moved up from the u14s.
What a first game! Welcome to men's hockey mate!!

When we played US Portsmouth away last year, we lost 15-0 and were 4-0 down within the first 6 minutes but today was a very different game.

We were strong from the off, making short, sharp passes, supporting each other well and communicating effectively. At half time, we were holding them 0-0.
In the first few minutes of the second half, we were caught on the hop with sloppy defending allowing US Portsmouth to break through right to the baseline.
Trev managed to regain possession, before being cornered right by the goal. Having no option, he put it past Rob, not realising that there is such thing as an own goal!
They managed to squeeze another 2 past us, due to us not being tight enough on our players...
One to watch out for and improve on next week guys!

All in all, it was a great performance.
Man of the Match: Rohan
Muppet of the Match: Trev

v City of Portsmouth 23 September 2017

We struggled to organise a team as four of our players from last season have been promoted to the 2s squad - Well done to Toby, Dan K, Chad and Jack!!

Big thanks to Duncan for stepping up to play in goal in a game where we also welcomed back Trevor, it's great to have you back.
Welcome to Finn and Charlie for your first adult game!

City of Portsmouth are always a tough opposition, and like us, are a development squad. We made a strong start, and put City of Portsmouth under pressure from the first whistle.

A lucky break got to our defensive line and earned CoP the first goal. We came back scoring an equaliser soon after.
The game was totally 50/50, and we certainly didn't look like a team who was playing together for the first time.

CoP saw a gap in our defence, and made the most of it, regaining their lead.
It was a cracking goal, and a learning curve for us to stick tighter to our players!

Gabe took a nasty stick to the head and had to leave the field, but fortunately it wasn't anything too serious.

From the first minute to the last, our boys showed courage, commitment, intelligent passing and game play.

Man of the Match - Theo

Muppet of the Match - Jo

Let's give it all we have in training tomorrow night, and get prepared to face US Portsmouth on Saturday!!

men's 2s vs men's dolphins 9th September 2017 (2)

Poole Mens 2s vs Poole Mens Dolphins (mixed the teams) Match Report - the first game is always a tough one fitness wise but that's the whole point, getting rid of those cobwebs and ironing out the mistakes. That being said there was many positives from yesterday's game, everyone had their head held high throughout the game with lots of positivity (That's the best type of hockey). I saw lots of great performances from both keepers, defences, midfield and forwards so let's take those great performances into next week's game against Weymouth 2s! See you Tuesday or Saturday
