3rd v Trojans

The men’s 3rds travelled to Southampton with a bear XI mainly due to the unsocialsble time of a 1630 start to play a trojans team how have managed to concede 19 goals away but score 19 at home (one would question does the home advantage really make that difference)

The game started late and Trojans got a lucky deflection after only a few minutes and the ball looked over jack to nestle in back of the net 1-0. Poole then had a little shuffle around and got their shape back to start pressing them creating a couple of chances and Noa hitting the post. Surprisingly their 2 suspect players (one complaining he was still full from teas!) stood firm at the back making some crunching tackles which were questioned once and then 10 minutes later Adrian questioning again receiving his marching orders. The team went in 1-0 halftime and the umpires advised the home team to calm their tackling (maybe I was right). Second half started well and the defenders stood firm with jack tackling like a defender in his area (sorry forgot to mention he did wipe out Duncan in the first half). Again some questionable umpire got the captains spoken to for appealing but apparently if your wearing red it was ok. The game finished with Duncan’s prodigy Gabe also getting a green for being fouled but not getting the ball.

Game finished 1-0 so the winning run came to an end but a good performance still means we are on the match

It was wet. With consistent pressure from poole in the first 15 mins without a goal. with a few bi line runs from Chad Parker which got us short corner after short corner with out any goals from mr Beagley and Adrian. was half time with no goals. The second half was even until the last 15 mins where poole pushed up and eventually got a goal from Dan Kimber from a deflection that went through the keepers legs and dribbled over the line. Finally sailsbury got a short corner that controversially was disallowed due to them thinking it went in but actually hitting the post. After arguing they got another short and missed which is when the final whistle blew and we came out with another victory

So a game filled with emotion and mixed feelings as we were all playing our club team mates but no game is a friendly and both teams wanted the win. Initially the game start well with both teams on the attack and a bit of a tennis game. Threes managed a break and Scott threaded the ball which Adrian touch for Dan K to score. The threes then got into their stride and pressed the team with Potter scoring his first of the day from just inside the area. Looking to dominate got a lucky break with a foot on the line and a penalty given which Potter scored again (yes Richard E we had a flick). Further more attacks with Kimber and Westfield scoring to go in 5-0 at half time Second half started well with some good play from Rohan, Harry and Dan combining with the experience of Garry in the middle, Mike looking like a veteran player rather than a new one managed to get some free space on the right. Further goals came in the second half but the goal of the day came from mike a well worked team goal with Harry switching the ball from left to right and combining with Scott playing a nice one two and scoring under the keeper. Game finished 10-0 but the team struggled to celebrate but a great game and some great play by both teams

Goals. Potter x 3, D Kimber 4, Maskery 1, Staples 1, Westfield 1

Mom. Gabe, Mainly for his Duncanesk tackle on the half way line stopping a 3 v 1 but for also for some none Duncanlike controlled safe and legal tackles
