Poole 3rds 10 - 0 Poole Dolphins

So a game filled with emotion and mixed feelings as we were all playing our club team mates but no game is a friendly and both teams wanted the win. Initially the game start well with both teams on the attack and a bit of a tennis game. Threes managed a break and Scott threaded the ball which Adrian touch for Dan K to score. The threes then got into their stride and pressed the team with Potter scoring his first of the day from just inside the area. Looking to dominate got a lucky break with a foot on the line and a penalty given which Potter scored again (yes Richard E we had a flick). Further more attacks with Kimber and Westfield scoring to go in 5-0 at half time Second half started well with some good play from Rohan, Harry and Dan combining with the experience of Garry in the middle, Mike looking like a veteran player rather than a new one managed to get some free space on the right. Further goals came in the second half but the goal of the day came from mike a well worked team goal with Harry switching the ball from left to right and combining with Scott playing a nice one two and scoring under the keeper. Game finished 10-0 but the team struggled to celebrate but a great game and some great play by both teams

Swanage Seconds 2 - 0 Poole Thirds
Mom. Finn

Poole thirds travelled the short distance to Purbeck school more in hope than expectation with the bare 11 players for this local derby. With barely a minute gone fears were justified as a sweeping move down the right led to an early goal for Swanage. The newly formed Poole Thirds needed to wake up quickly.

They duly did and organised themselves well from this point. Marking was tight and there was 110% effort all round. Half time came with no further score and it was clear the game was far from over.

The second period played out much as the first with both sides pushing for the next goal. Some interesting umpiring decisions put undue pressure on the Poole back line but the team held firm until the last five minutes. As they pushed forward in search of the equaliser the ball broke out of the Swanage area and into the midfield. A quick break followed and a clean strike made the score a somewhat undeserved 2-0.

All in all a battling performance from everyone on the Thirds first ever league appearance. Things don’t get easier as next week the Thirds are at home to Havant who started the season with a 9-0 win over Trojans to top the first week table.
