We played away this week against for our last game of 2015. The weather stayed dry for a change, although the wind tried to give us a hard time! Not long after the whistle blew, Nickie’s forehead was attacked by the ball. After a brief time off the pitch with an ice pack, she returned to the game like the pro that she is. We had a strong defence in the first half, with Poole ladies playing brilliantly and working as a unit. By the end of the first half, the score was 0-0. With praise from our captain for our performance in the first half, we started the second half with determination to put an end to Beaminster’s streak of winning every home game this season so far. Beaminster snuck a goal past our defence, which took the score to 1-0 to Beaminster, although that didn’t last long. In comes Tanya! Tanya scored a wicked woowoo goal, which took the score to 1-1. A Beaminster player injured her knee not long after Tanya’s goal and could no longer participate, which gave us an advantage (although we hope she is alright). From then until the end of the game, tensions were very high as we really wanted a win. The ball spent most of the remainder of the game up their end of the pitch as we worked their defence. Lauren very nearly scored her first ever goal, which would have won Poole the game, but Beaminster’s keeper was in the way! The game concluded with a 1-1 result and Poole ladies were in high spirits. Overall it was a brilliant game and everyone played really well. We ended Beaminster’s home game winning streak and we were pumped for our Poole Hockey Club Christmas social (which was awesome, by the way).

Final score-1-1

MoM – Danni

DoD - Lucie
