Poole sunder 16s v COP under 16s

This morning the pink people from Portsmouth travelled to the beach at ashdown leisure centre to face off against the Poole u16 team.

Still sore from the 5-3 defeat from the last time we played, Poole were eager to set things right this time with debut performances from Tom C and Max M who both performed amazingly. At 11 o’clock ash blew the starting whistle and captain Finn S started the game with push back. The first 10 minutes were evenly played until Portsmouth made a break down the right hand side from a 16. One of the pink people carried the ball all the way down to the edge of our D before flicking the ball into Chad P’s face and then going on to score a goal. After the goal was stupidly not disallowed Poole’s heads dropped a bit and we conceded another 3 or 4 goals. This was a wake up call for Poole and as the first half was coming to a close Seb Latham scored a brilliant goal by chipping the keeper and putting it in the back of the net, all on the reverse! The whistle blew for half time and a rather disgruntled Poole side gathered in the goal and talked about improvements that needed to be made and then made fun of Ed before going back out and starting the second half. Desperate to right the wrongs of the first half, Poole went into the second with levels of energy and passion that were unseen in the first half. Poole played with more structure in this half and some great play on the wings led to great goals from Ed, Rohan and Finn. The Poole defence was also tested a lot during the second half as we conceded a further two goals however some amazing on the line saves from Esme and Chad stopped that number from being higher. Overall we can use this match as a learning experience and take our mistakes and learn from them in training. Final score: 7-4 to the pinks.
