Club volunteers aged 16 or over who have regular contact with anyone under 18 are required to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. Our Welfare Officer will guide you through the process.
Please note that DBS checks are organisation‑specific. Even if you already hold a DBS from another club or employer, you will still need one for Poole Hockey Club. This is a requirement of the DBS system, not a club policy.
How To Get A DBS Check
- Contact our Welfare Officer (see below) - send your full name and your role at the club (e.g. coach, captain, volunteer). Poole Hockey Club will cover the cost of all DBS checks. Checks are valid for three years.
- Complete the online application - our Welfare Officer will create your application, via the online system 'Know Your People', using your name and email address. You’ll then receive an email with a link to your application form. Click the link, complete the form and submit it.
- Verify your documents - you’ll need to show your ID documents in person to our Welfare Officer so they can verify the information used in your application.
- Receive your certificate - your DBS certificate will be posted to you directly once processed.
